A slight departure from my usual posts but I think this is important before people fall victim to these scammers. The site I am talking about is Cardilly.com which bills itself as a site with "unique gift card deals everyday". Basically everyday they list gift cards on their website for below their value and sucker people into buying them because they are such amazing deals. For the past 2 months they have had Walmart $100 gift cards for $50. Many people jumped on the bandwagon hoping to catch that amazing deal and have only been met with disappointment as their orders haven't been received, their emails not answered, and all investigations into the company have returned as highly questionable and extremely suspicious. I can't tell you for sure how they are running the scam but a number of things have been flagged as huge red alerts:
- Most people who have ordered have not received their orders. Only a very few number of people who places orders in the very begriming have received their orders and everyone else has been left empty handed. This is very consistent with pyramid schemes.
- Almost all requests for order status to the company are either ignored or form letters are emailed back with stalling tactics such as "we do not know what happened to your cards, we will look into it". Their terms as well state that it will take 2-4 weeks for your order to arrive, also extending the time they can run their scam.
- Of the few who have received their cards they were sent regular mail with no tracking information or way to confirm receipt. This is a huge red flag as many people were ordering large quantities of cards, and this would be a terrible business practice if this was a real business.
- All contact information has been unverified. Addresses listed for the business turn up as rented rooms or mailboxes, phone numbers do not work, nothing attached to the company can be verified, including the owners and employees.
Because of all the information posted above, as well as even more inconsistencies you should stay away from this compnay. If you did make a purchase already, it is recommended that you call your credit card company immediately and file a chargeback and get a new credit card number. Keep all records of your transactions as you will need them later on in case of any problems.
